Design Approach and Mechanism Analysis for Cavitation-Tolerant Torque Converter Blades

As the development of hydrodynamic torque converters (HTCs) points toward increasing pump input power and rotation speed, negative effects cavitation are worsening. Most studies focus on suppressing fluid machinery to attenuate cavitation, such as noise, vibration, blade damage. Therefore, we proposed two stator suppression slotting methods suppress in HTCs: (1) both sides pressure suction (2) one side side. The key design parameters analyzed, including slot width position blade. Findings show that a wider enlarges mass flow rate ventilation through slot, thus reducing risk but decreasing performance. most effective for second method (slotting side) is between S0.15 (stator dimensionless distance 0.15 location) S0.6 side); here, can be suppressed completely. capacity factor (Tbg) ratio (K) decreased by 6.81% 3.23%, respectively, under stalling speed ratio, whereas almost completely disappears. new suppresses significantly shortens duration. serve reference turbomachinery design.
